This category comprises nearly 20 shark species, all of which inhabit the coast. Some well known sharks in this category are bull sharks, blacktip sharks and scalloped hammerhead sharks. These are carnivorous apex predators but are typically slow to grow and late to become reproductively mature. This makes them very vulnerable to overexploitation. We put all these sharks in one category because as far as consumers are concerned, they are all 'shark meat' or in Marathi "Mori-mutton". Interestingly many of them breed in the first half of the year, which has allowed us to make one single recommendation for these multiple species.
